The Charity Volunteering Project

The Volunteering Project was set up in 2005 after a suggestion by the President of Belarus that maybe it was time to bring young people from the UK to spend time with young Belarusians in the summer camps either helping with disadvantaged children or children with a disability.

The charity was already involved with the Belarusian Children's Hospice and the Smilovichi Orphanage and so in the early days we were able to send mainly six form students from Salisbury schools to both places and at that time in quite small numbers which worked very well until the numbers increased to a level that made the use of these places impossible.

So after much thought and many meetings with the management of the Belarusian State Organization Horizont who own and run a Children's Summer Camp at Radoshkovichi we agreed terms and signed a contract that allowed us to send groups of UK Volunteers to the Horizont Camp in 2012.
